I have given this to my cats and I can assure you they love it! Matatabi is most commonly known as silvervine and can work as an alternative to catnip. Cats are naturally attracted to the smell of matatabi. Native to the mountains of China and Japan, the plant grows on trees and rocks like ivy.
The “Japanese catnip” will surely do the work if regular catnip does not attract your deaf cat.
The matatabi sticks are a desired treat for a lot of cats. Mine are not deaf, but I would certainly recommend them! as the sticks help me keep them entertained and with their teeth clean!
