How to Choose the Perfect Name for your Tortoiseshell cat
Choosing my cats‘ names wasn’t an easy task. At first, because I didn’t even know their sex yet, we went with provisional names like “orange” for the orange cat (very original, huh?,) and after a lot of brainstorming, the two little brothers ended up being named Aurelio and Haru.
If you don’t want to go wrong when naming your cat, choose a name that:
- Ends in a vowel: Names that end in a vowel are easier for them to recognize. The pitch change we make for these type of words makes it stand out from everything else we say.
- 1-2 syllables long: Short names are the way to go if you want your cat to recall your name or at the very least, least give you a look when you say it.
- Considers looks: Tortoiseshell cats are very unique and different from each other. Their patterns can reassemble something, their colors could remind you of something special as well. Finding similarities and choosing names that associate to your cat looks can be quite descriptive and easy to pick up when introducing your feline friend to visitors.
- Considers personality: Cats let their personality shine from a very young stage, even a few months is enough to depict a picture of it.
- Considers your taste: Any name that you can associate to them and something you love will strengthen the bond and the significance of the name itself.
Conclusion
I hope you found inspiration and even a fitting, definitive name in the list! Tortoiseshell cats are unique, and so should their name be.
Remember to go with a name that represents you and/or your cat, whether it be through looks, taste, or personality. Also, keep it short to make it easier for them to recognize it faster, and recall their name forever 🙂
